Between 1982 and 1987, Hockney experimented heavily with photo collage,
creating works he called "joiners". A joiner consists of a series of photographs taken from
different viewpoints, arranged and overlapped to form a single piece (first 3 images above). Recently he has worked with various painting applications on the iPhone and iPad to create digital paintings (4th image above).
